PROJECTS

I had played the trumpet since the age of fourteen and within weeks of being in Spain, I commenced forming a Dixieland jazz band. It is still going today, comprising three Brits and three young Spanish lads. During this long period of playing together, we have moulded into a fine band, considered by many to be the best in Andalucía. Despite this, and working for my wife’s Real Estate business, I inevitably got bored!

Period bodied 240Z Powered Sports Car

Having, in my early life, owned a small pre-war M.G. C type Brooklands racer, I have always loved the look of these pointed tailed sports racers from that era. For more years than I care to remember, I had wanted to build for myself a period sports car using 2600cc short stroke  Z engine and  Gear box, all independent suspension and with a 1930`s aluminium hand made racing body. This would be quite a sophisticated machine and definitely a mile too far for me financially but I designed and had this car built for a friend here in Spain.

With an all up weight of about 750 KG and over 200BHP on tap, this special is very very rapid!!

1971 Period bodied Triumph Spitfire MK4

For myself I bought a “basket case” 1971 MK4 Spitfire, had a period aluminium body built for it, and substituted it's engine for a Datsun “A” series motor and 5 speed gear box. It's very small and light, great fun and the next best thing to the Z powered special.

It is now officially classified as an Historic car here in Spain and I'm a member of the local Classic car club based in Nerja, Andalusia.

Hey guys, who would have ever believed it, the Triumph special is now on Spanish Historic Plates!

Restoration of a 1971 Super Samuri, the 75th and last, honest guv!

I have also acquired an imported 1971 240Z which needed considerable TLC. I have decided it will become the 75th (and definitely the last!), Super Samuri®.

With enormous help from my old friend Dave Jarman, this will be the quickest Super Samuri® of them all, it will be a full international Historic racer with FIA homologation and will, in true Samuri® tradition, be fully street legal! As I will have owned the first Super Samuri® and now, the last, it seems logical to make them look as similar as possible. The restoration and conversion is now nearing completion and interesting plans exist for number 75, soon to be FFA196G and, once executed, will be sold on to my good friend Mike Lee, a Z enthusiast and provider of endless cups of coffee here in Spain!
